This is an excellent exercise. Answer these 10 multiple-choice questions offered by actual climatologists.

The information on the answer sheets is well-documented and untouched by political hands.

    How refreshing and educational.

    I recommend this to everyone.

    Which climatologists?
How refreshing, if only it would be true. Its also out of date. I notice no data points past 1998 I think.

    The primary logical hole:

Can you cite me a physical law that states that any physical effect can only have one cause? I cite this specifically because in the questioniare, warming has happened before - true, and cites the reasons for it. What's assumed is modern humans with their greenhouse producing machines don't affect the climate. The evidence for it?

Not going to get into any specific discussion, neither one of us is quailified.

Now in fairness, the majority can be wrong. What is wrong though, is that whille the nut cases on the left use this as a weapon for their agenda's, the nut cases on the right are no different and use reasonable sounding arguements as you present as "objective ".

    Regards - Charles

Monte Hieb is a political tool who is also associated with the coal mining industry. Neither man is a climatologist with a degree. They are fossil hunters.

    Hi Whiskeyman,

Thanks for the link to the coal industry.

The tip off is the damage to forests question: accurate up to a point, too much CO2 is damaging, while leaving out the effects of acid rain, typical of the omissions in the "test ".

Over this past weekend I saw a TV news program that included some NASA imagery depicting the presence and effects of large amounts of dust from Africa's Sahara Desert spreading westward across the Atlantic Ocean. I just Googled the subject and found this:

    http://www.nasa.gov/mission_pages/hurricanes/archives/2007/hurricane_dust.html

It would seem to lend some objective substantiation to the cooling of the Earth's climate last year.

    Cooling? Warming?

I guess I just cannot be convinced by either extreme. Yes, I believe in global warming. How much has man contributed? Some. Can anyone put a number on that? I doubt it. Concerned? Not really. The Sunhas a terrific impact on our weather. How much do we know about that? The Brits have a video out, but can't remember the website. Kind of neutralizes Mr Gore, who probably contributes more than anyone to the problem (both the scientific and political). Remember follow the money. A lot of money is spent on studying global warming. One scientist said "I could not get funded to do a study on the nut collecting of squirrels. However, if I added as it pertains to global warming, I could probably do a lot better!!!!

    Always follow the money!

    Hello jerryew,

Good point, yep, and how much money is invested in Global Warning as myth? Willing to wager at least an order of magnitude greater at least, starting with the Fossil fuel industry, auto makers, etc, etc...

    Indeed!

Yes, Charles, all things revolve around the dollar. Consider to that, if the life of our planet were on a scale that equalled one mile, we have been here about one inch? Polluting the air for one thousandth of an inch? We may have come a long way in understanding things, but we are far short of knowing everything!

    Regards, Jerry

I look at it this way. What will kill off mankind first? War, pollution, global warming or some unforeseen natural force?

    Agreed :)
Ah, the Earth is too big for us to have any effect on, and modern humans are too puny, ok

    Hi Whiskeyman,

Except for the unforseen, maybe none, provided we use our intelligence, but that may be asking too much

Humans don't like using the organ between their ears all that much.

    Regards - Charles
