I don't know about the freeware to get rid of those stupid 'greater than signs', but here is what you can do to make sure that YOU aren't sending any in your mail. You could also type out these instructions and forward them to your senders and hope the message gets passed along far enough back so EVERYONE will know how irratating they are and hopefully edit their mail to stop them.

In OE follow this path: TOOLS/OPTIONS/SEND/SETTINGS(found toward the bottom where it says Mail Sending Format). Make sure that the box that says INDENT THE ORIGINAL TEXT WITH > WHEN REPLYING OR FORWARDING is UNCHECKED . Then hit APPLY. This will keep them little buggers from multipling.

I've mentioned this to my senders and surprisingly enough most of them didn't know that feature was checked. It usually is as a default.

Let us know if this answers your question, partly.

    :)

    Kiasuteo,

There are two that I have tested. The first is called eCleaner (Freeware) and works as a separate utility that you can paste the contents of your clipboard into and and push its button and it will clean up the text as you desire.

The other one (my choice and also freeware) is actually a clipboard extender that works seamlessly with the Windows clipboard and has the facility built in to clean the text when you elect to do so. It is called Yankee Clipper III

There is another called ClipCache (Free trialware) that is sold by the sponsor of this BB but as of yet I haven't tested it. I understand that it is equal to Yankee Clipper III.

    Regards

kiasuteo--Or you can remove the <'s without any new software by highlighting the text|copy (into Clipboard)|paste into WordPad|click Edit|Replace. Type < into the "Find What" line and leave "Replace With" blank. Click Replace All.

You might look HERE for one that I use and is free and does what you wish. I'll check to see if it works but it should.

    It works :D

I use ecleaner as Zephyr suggested all the time! Love it. Small download and a no brainer to use. (Like that part best! :D  )

    Daizy,

Now try Yankee Clipper III It's even better than Ecleaner and you'll love all the rest of its features. Trust me, it's the juice!

Sorry that I did not give you the correct link. The link that WittPhil has for you in his post is the correct one and it is simply the greatest stripper I have ever seen. And it mean nothing to me if do or don't use it!! Just so you will know.
