    Hi All,
I have a question. This weekend, my computer started to do something weird. When I power down my pc and then power it back up, nothing happens (except my hdd light stays on continuously), but when I unplug it for 5 secs, it seems to start ok. Does anyone know what this means?

    thanks
    Brad

Pulling the AC plug definitely resets the address registers and clears RAM. A normal shutdown will close all open files, and clears RAM.

Because you do not get an abnormal shutdown message when powering up indicates that the shutdown procedure closed all open files properly. The problem may be isolated to the startup procedure and an intermittently poor power connection. Unplugging and replugging interupts the fault and corrects the problem.

There are no beeps, no message, but the power light is "on ". Anything else? With the information you have provided, my guess would be a cable, or cable connection problem.
