    Hello there,
I'm interested in doing some general clean up on my computer. There are two things I'd like to do:
    1) Stop lots of programs from loading on startup (w/o using "selective start up).
    2) Free up resources. I'm at about 61% after a fresh start.
I'm sure these two items are inter-related.
No severe problems with my computer, I'd just like it to run more efficient. :)

    FYI:
    Win ME, Pentium 3, 1000Mhz, 512M RAM, HD#1=20 GB, HD#2=80 GB

    HJT log:
    Logfile of HijackThis v1.98.0

KyleB--Cleaning up your startup list is relatively simple
Go here to see what items are really needed or what you would like.
    http://www.3feetunder.com/krick/startup/list.html
    http://www.greatis.com/regrun3appdatabase.htm
(and for programs running after start up
    http://www.answersthatwork.com/Tasklist_pages/tasklist.htm)
    Then disable all the rest.
You can also clean up your cache (IE Tools|Internet Options|General Tab|Delete Files.) And cookies, though that is a matter of choice.
HOWEVER based on the HiJackThis log, you have spyware, etc. on your PC.
I must leave it for someone more expert in HJT logs to analyze it for you.
However, I can suggest that you run a spyware detector such as AdAware or SpybotS&D (with latest reference files) as well as download and install SpywareBlaster.

    http://www.lavasoft.de/support/download/
    http://www.safer-networking.org/
    http://www.javacoolsoftware.com/spywareblaster.html
Quarantine what the spyware detector recommends. Then run HiJackThis again and post the new log. Hopefully you will reduced the amount of spyware.
I would do this before worrying about the Startup programs discussed earlier, since spyware will just reinstall until you get rid of it.
