OK..OK....It's my fault, but I think that's what happened. Read about slightly over-clocking my CPU. PcChips M571 MB, AMD K6 III 380 CPU (2.2v). Trying to increase the voltage by .1v I with a 47 k 1/4 watt resistor. I went to Radio Shack and got the correct resistor. Took an extra jumper and cut off about 1/2 of the plastic to expose the two metal prongs inside. I cut the little strip of metal joining the two prongs and soldered the resistor in place....

I placed the modified jumped on the 2.8v prongs and turned the thing on and....nothing. No beeps, no monitor..just the HD spinning. Turned it off after 10 seconds or so and took off the modified jumper. Made sure it was on the 2.8 pins....looked at the thing again and....WHAM!!....failed to see earlier that there was yet ANOTHER metal strip joining the two prongs which was hidden inside the remaining plastic of the jumper. Effectively, it didn't matter that the resistor was in place, as the jumper made a complete connection.

So now I put the full 2.8 v through the thing. It still does nothing after removing the jumper, back in the original configeration. No beeps, no moniter, etc....

The tolerance (I think) of the CPU is 2.2 +/- .1v so I think I over-did it? Any suggestions other than say that I'm an idiot?
