Formating a HD

    Hello everyone.
    My problem is I have just built a computre(Barebones) and some only formated 8gigs of a 40g drive question here is DI I have to reformat everything again? or can I partition the remaining 32g? Is there a program I could get that will help me do this or can xp help here. I have XP home edition and everything else is working great
    anyone?

    I'm not clear on what you want to do.

    If you want to expand the 8 gig partition to the full 40 gigs, you will need some 3rd party app, like Partition Magic.

    If all you want to do is use the 32 gig partition, you should be able to format it by right-clicking My Computer, Manage, Disk Management and right-clicking the partition (if it is recognized).

    You could also run XP setup from the CD and continue the installation until just after you press F8 for the license agreement. Your present partitions will show and you will then have the option to delete or modify them. Then just exit setup.
