At one time when a dvd was inserted in my computer a pop up window would appear asking me what I want to do with this disc. For some reason Vista has turned this off. I would like to format my DVD disc using the Live File System Format. Is their somewhere on my computer that I can run the program that will format my disc. If I right click on the drive the disc is inserted into I have an option of formatting the disc but do not have the choice of how I want the disc formatted. If I say yes to formatting the disc it will format but in the Mastered file system format. Is their something I can run manually to give me what I need.

I suppose you know that you need to use a DVD-RW disk, not a DVD-R disk. The latter doesn't support formatting. (Your drive might be best suited to using DVD+RW disks. You need to get information from the drive manufacturer.)

If the disk is already formatted as Live File System Format and you want it blank, just delete all the files off it.

    This fellow has a complaint:

Sorry, I haven't used it. My opinion would be that it may be susceptible to getting corrupted, I expect it would not be supported by previous versions of Windows (without third party software?) and may not be read by other drives.

    Format a DVD Disc

My problem is that my autoplay window will not pop up when a DVD-RW disc is inserted. I don't have the window that gives me a choice of what I want to do.
I was just wondering if their was a file or program in Vista that I could use to format my disc.
If I had the autoplay window pop up and I selected burn to disc what program is Vista running to let me do this. I was wondering if I could run that program manually.
