Is there a way to load Windows XP Pro in safe mode? I installed a program that in retrospective, it wasn't a good idea to install. It runs at startup and closes the end programs dialog box before I can click on it to disable it. I used StartUp Cop to remove it, but upon reboot it's back again. I know which file it is, but Windows won't let me delete it because it's in memory and I have no way to get it out because it shuts down the Ctrl+Alt+Del box too fast.

To get into safe mode I have to use F5. For me, F8 just brings up the order of boot devices screen.

Johanna - remember you posting that before - checked on my m/c. Both F5 and F8 bring up the same menu - must be a BIOS thing, mine is Award on Asus A7V333 mobo.

Must be. I have American Megatrends on an ECS board. I only mentioned it again in case someone else couldn't find safe mode with F8.

I'm playing with the Admin Account right now- will post what I have learned in a different thread later, assuming I don't break anything this morning!
