Floopy Disk

    windows xp home Ed.

    Can someone help me fix (A Floopy drive)
    everytime I put a blank floopy in drive it tells me to install a floopy disk when I already have one in there .

    Also, get a can of compressed air and blow the dust out of the drive.

    Nope either did the trick

    when I put a floopy in drive it don't see it or light up .

    Go into Device Manager and expand Floppy Disk Drives by clicking on the + sign. Right click on the floppy drive > uninstall and OK out. Reboot and try the drive again.

    If that doesn't work open up the case - PC powered down - remove and reseat the power cable and the ribbon cable. Also check the connection of the ribbon cable to the motherboard.

    It's possible that the drive may have failed if the light is not coming on.

    check power cord still no floopy, I had to have a new AMD Sempron Processor put in the other day maybe they unpluged power cord but it looks like there all plug in to the back of the A Floopy.

    Is there a ribbon attached to the floppy? To identify the correct one, you'll see some of the wires in the ribbon are twisted around, the red line goes closest to the power connection.

    Make sure the ribbon cable is properly seated on the motherboard. It may have come loose during the installation of the CPU.

    All fixed and up and runing . I didn't have the power cord plug in it was setting so it look like it was but it wasn't .
