    To anyone interested:

Firefox 1.0.6, using Gecko engine 1.7.10 is available here, in the nightly builds. Disregard the fact that the webpage still shows version 1.0.1.

Should we first uninstall previous version?

    El Camino ...

Good question. I use the nightly zip versions, so uninstalling isn't an issue for me ... I just delete (or rename, temporarily) the old Firefox folder, and unzip the new build in the same location.

If you use the installer version, you probably can install over your previous installation but, to be on the safe side, it wouldn't hurt to uninstall first.

Be sure not to touch your profile folder, though (unless you want to start completely from scratch :)).

Thanks for the heads up Jim. Always nice to be driving the new bike on the street. One question, can this build (1.0.6) be changed, or is this a final?

    Hi Dennis,

By "changed ", I'm assuming you mean "updated ".

As I told El Camino, I use the nightly zipped Aviary builds, so updating an installed build isn't an issue for me.

I'm not sure there ever will be a "final" build/release. 1.1 is in the works, and the honchos at Mozilla.org are already looking ahead to 1.5 and 2.0.

FF 1.0.6 installed fine (default .exe install). All 32 extensions, 3 themes and 11 plugins made the trip. Installed over the top, FF 1.0.5 is NOT showing in Add/Remove.

FF1.0.6 is in the bnightly category. Whether or not it differes from 1.0.5, I don't know, but the version number is bumped up one notch when a stable version is released. These nightlies are not for everyone's use, and are not final.
I would, rather, concentrated in Deer Park which is of the 1.1 persuasion.
But, with zipped versions anything goes.
