Nearest I can get for you is to look in .....

Windows > System32 > Spool > Drivers > w32x86 and hover your mouse over the files for version nos.

    BTW - which printer?

OLDSALTY--The following works for me with an HP Printer.
In Device Manager, highlight the printer line(s), click Properties|Driver tab|Driver Details. You will see the name and location of the driver(s). You can then navigate to that location, hover over the file name (or right click on the file|Properties )and with luck be told the version. (In Device Manager, my HP is under DOT4, have no idea what that means.) And the HP drivers are in C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\DRIVERS

I have a Brother HL-1850. I thought there should be a place to find out what version driver I am using for it. There are so many files that I don't know which one is the one used by my printer.

This works for my Epson 1270 ....

Start > Settings > Printers and Faxes - right click on printer > Properties > Version Information. I wonder if your Brother has something similar.

Also in the print dialogue box/setup dialogue is there a Help > About Printer or similar?

Neither my HP DeskJet - parallel port or the Epson 1270 - USB show up in device Manager.

BTW the latest version of the driver for your Brother is 1.53 for the PCL driver.

Is there any particular reason that you need to know the version number of your current driver? If it is merely a question of ensuring that you have the latest download the latest driver. If you already have it it most likely it will not install or simply install a new copy.

No Brother does not have that.

I asked a support question and they want to know the version of the driver I am using.

Best to ask support how to determine the driver version?

DUH! Why didn't I think of that. I guess because I was using their email support. I will call them now, thanks Pete.
