    I am using Windows XP.
I had Illustrator 9.0 and recently installed version 10.0 and after that I
noticed all the illustrator files have lost their icons, instead it displays
generic windows icon. The file has not lost it's association with the
program, i.e. if double-clicked it does open up with Illustrator 10, but it
just won't display the proper icon. Same thing happened when I upgraded
corel 11 to corel 12. all the corel files now have generic icon.
I have tried several times to change association using "file type" and then
change back to proper program, but no change.. same thing. I have tried
Explorer | Tools | Folder Options | File Types.. but no use. Yes I tried
clicking on Advanced and change icon.. but doesn't work.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    thanks.

ronnroz--I know nothing about Illustrator. But often if you right click a file's icon and then Properties, you will be offered the opportunity to "Change Icon ".
Also within Illustrator is there an Options or Preferences tab? Might be some help there.
Are the Illustrator icons the only ones fouled up? If it ismore widespread, the problem could be different and there are other solutions.

You could try the Repair Icon feature in TweakuiXP
