fff strange files daily

Hi all, I often have to delete files from my Windows directory that
all more or less look alike and all have 0 Bytes - here's an
example ...

fffc5553_{B67DDD61-4799-11D8-94E0-00E04CB55230}.tmp

what creates them and why ?

PS I suspect Office 2000 - but that's only a guess

Later ... oh - oh
do not have mdm.exe on the PC and no Run entries at all
in local machine.
Thinking what to do - maybe just delete the fff at boot-up ?
