Something really weird has happened. When I try to open a Word document I am told that my resources are fatally low. Then everything seizes up. Is this a Kernel32 problem, cos I have seen something about that somewhere.
I have uninstalled Word and re-installed it. I have also uninstalled any programmes that I don't use.
    HELP
    Any advice happily received.

    Hello Lady Mitch,

This error usually occurs in 98 when too many programs are open at the same time.

One other way this can occur is if too many documents are open as well.

    To start troubleshooting this:

http://onlinehelp.bc.ca/tips.htm#resources scroll down to "system resources explained" for a technical explanantion.

http://www2.whidbey.com/djdenham/index.htm is a site to compare your startups and whether needed on startup or can be on demand. There also is a page on this issue.

    Regards - Charles
