whenever I double click on a folder to open it, it always opens in a new window, even if I right click, and click open, or explore, it does the same thing. and in Folder Options, under File Types, I've set the default to explore, and open, but it still won't open in the same window. I've tried a few reg edits from Kelly's Korner, and still it does the same thing. does anyone have a possible solution?

tacticalbread - Welcome to the Board :)

For double clicking on a folder to open in the same window .....

Windows Explorer > Tools > Folder Options - General tab - Browse Folders - Open each folder in the same window.

Right click > Open/Explore always opens in a new window - that is the default behaviour.

Betting that you're clicking the folder on the Right hand side of explorer...

Instead...Click on the folder on the Left side...

 Doesn't make any difference whether I double click in the LH pane or the RH pane the folder opens in the same window.

I run XP in Classic mode with Tools > Folder Options - General - 'Use Windows Classic folders'. Is Lunar different??

I'm at the office now and one XP machine also uses the same window on either side:eek:

OH...but if I right click and select Open - it opens a new window....It's probably a File Association thingie...

Can probably go to File Types->FOLDER (not file folder) Edit and make "Explore" the default Action.

I tried setting both open, and explore as the default action, but neither worked.
