    I have a Pc with 198mb ram running Windows 98 2nd ed.
All of a sudden, when I open Excel or an excel file, the excel Pc locks up without even allowing me to use excel.

I have the Office 2000 Pro Suite package

When I open a word document or powerpoint, it works just fine.

To fix lockup/freeze problem, need to reboot Pc. but Excel still work work.

    Need Help.
    Bill.

Office 2000 is sometimes wierd. An Uninstall/Reinstall will
    not correct reg entries.
In Control Panel/Add Remove Program select MS office but
choose "repair" and have the Office CD1 handy ...
    regards

    2 questions for W Young:
    1. Do you have any problems with Word?
    2. Do you use Norton software?

    fixed

    thanks for all your ideas.
Needed to uninstall office suite, then remove all references to excel in the regedit. for some reason, the uninstall didn't remove all references.

then reinstall and seems to be working.

    thanks.
