anybody out there know Eudora ? I have used eudora since a dos version and recently I noticed something in my options for incoming server/mail server.

My incoming server displays 127.0.0.1. No matter how many times I change to correct server for my isp it changes it back to 127.0.0.1. Cant find anything like that on eudora web site and unfortunately I use the sponsored mode so I cant get advise from them. Was hoping someone may have seen this.

Had a virus a while back that messed up my email but that was eradicated and email corrected. No idea why it keeps going back to 127.0.0.1.

I get my mail but its not pointing to correct incoming/mail server for my isp.

    Any ideas ?

    Hi gghartman,

Please excuse my somewhat un-precise explanation... but your incomer server setting's are "probably correct. There are two types of programs that require this setting. Some "Spam" type and "Virus" protection programs both require a view "in front of your email client ". After they do there function (sort spam or check for viruses, they then release the mail to your email client. I'm sure some of the more technical versed members can give you a more detailed explanation.

Have never noticed it before and hopefully you are correct. The outgoing server reflects what I think it should be and in fact what I initially set it up with. As I did with the incoming. My mail does seem to download okay.

    Thanks for input.

When I installed my "Spam" filter, I manually changed my incoming mail server to 127.0.0.1. Since you were not aware of this change, my guess would be your AV program changed it for you. Check the setup/install guide for your AV to see if it is a required setting.

    Thanks.

There are 4 things I know of that would cause that.
    Anti-virus program with email scanner.
    Firewall program with email scanner.
    Router.
    LAN with mail server.
