When users try to update McAfee, it says insufficient rights to back up. I have set them up as power users, and don't want to go all the way to administrator - I don't want users to be able to do that much to muck up their machines. VirusShield was installed with standard security, so that's not the problem.

    Machines are running XPPro SP1.

Please tell me I don't have to set them up as administrators - PLEASE!!!!!

    Could be bad news :(

Quote from Help and Support - Power Users :

    "Power Users can:

Run legacy applications, in addition to Windows 2000 or Windows XP Professional certified applications.
Install programs that do not modify operating system files or install system services.
Customize systemwide resources including printers, date, time, power options, and other Control Panel resources.
Create and manage local user accounts and groups.
Stop and start system services which are not started by default.
Power Users do not have permission to add themselves to the Administrators group. Power Users do not have access to the data of other users on an NTFS volume, unless those users grant them permission. "

Question is - does a McAfee update modify operating system files?

Ryder - you might do lots better with a version that will allow a sysadmin to push updates down to the PCs.
