I keep getting this and then all of a sudden after quite some time I get a smashing download of 50 or so emails but can't get server contact at my leisure.

    Who has the answer.??

These problems are always difficult to troubleshoot as :

    1. These are not reproducible at our end
    2. Most of the people have moved from XP & OE6.
    3. Your ISP/mail provider can have a bearing on these

Have you tried clearing your mail box? compacting emails?
Have you had a look at your Server Settings? Tools > Accounts > Servers and Advanced to make sure your Ports haven't altered. Neil.

    Yes to all of those....
Also it makes no difference if I am running XP & OE6 or Win7 with Windows Live Mail...same problem on both systems.

I'll throw in a little extra info.

My Internet access at the moment is through mobile phone tethering so don't know if that will have any bearing on it.

If you are getting same error on 2 different systems with different Windows OS, its not a problem with your settings or hardware.

There could be some problem with internet access or email provider. Best to contact their service people.
