    1. I downloaded Service Pack 2 but can't find it.

    2. I downloaded a new graphics update (Intel Extreme Graphics)

Now I am getting error messages and I'm not sure which of the above is causing it.

    Messages:

    1. MJVIEW ERROR
Could not execute main: the system cannot find the file specified.

    2. RUNDLL
    Error loading C:/windows/download~1\conflict.1/cnsmin.dll
the specified module could not be found.

    Can someone help me? :(

This is Adware, not a virus and a method of removing it is given here

As both the methods to remove your two problems require editing the registry I would suggest running AdAware and Spybot first in the hope that they will find and resolve the problems, particularly the second one.

So download both AdAware SE and Spybot through Quicklinks in my signature and update both immediately. Configure AdAware as shown here - also a download link - run both and delete all they find - the green entries in Spybot are usage tracks and may be left alone. While in Spybot hit the immunise button and then the green + sign to apply some permanent protection against nasties. Also read the stickies at the top of this forum.

Reboot and see which, if any of the problems remain. If still there use the fixes I posted.

Also suggest you download SpywareBlaster , update it and apply all protection. This will give you permanent protection against a load of nasties. and is compatible with Spybot, which will recognise that it is installed.

    Moving this thread to Security/Virus/Spyware

OK... part 1 was easy and solved the problem.

QUESTION: Is there a place that lists the things that should be checked?

Part 2 was more difficult as you said it would be. I followed the directions but could find none of the items under run matching Mjview...

    QUESTION: What now?

I downloaded Spyblaster about 2 wks ago and it is running. Not sure how that cnsmin.dll got past it. AD-AWARE cleaned it up.

Is it legal for advertisers to plant their poisonous files onto our computers without our permission? I feel raped. :D

Unethical, underhanded, impolite, upsetting, but unfortunately not illegal at this point. Not legal either as such; just no laws dealing with the matter.

Sure feels like it should be illegal though, doesn't it?
