Error installing SP1

When I try to install SP1 it gets quite a ways into the install, maybe nearly done, and then:

Service Pack 1 Setup Error
Access Denied
OK

I searched my svcpack.log file and found near the bottom:

INF_REGISTRY Failed

This is a single machine with me as Administrator. XP is an OEM version from a local custom pc builder.

I have found a couple of help suggestions in my research but they didn't work.

Can anyone help?

Thanks. I had already been to Kelly's Korner and nothing there worked.

Happy ending though. I re-installed XP and the SP1 install worked fine. (Sounds simple, huh. But this all took a few hours).
