envelope when opening attachments

    I am asking this question for a friend who is encountering a problem.
    He is running XP with aol as his isp.
    When he recieves an attachment and clicks on it all he sees is
    an envelope in the middle of his screen. What is this ?
    Can it be some signal involved with aol ?

    Any sort of attachment or only one or two?

    And it certainly could be an AOL thing. In that case, can't help since I won't get within shouting distance of AOL or PCs that use it.
