I have received an email from an overseas friend who has just purchased a NEW PC which they used to send their latest email.

The email was RECEIVED on 31 Dec yet the date shown in the INBOX of my email application (Eudora) is 12:27AM 1/1/2011.
The date in the email header is Thu, 30 Dec 2010 14:53:35 -0500

My friends live in the USA (I am in Australia) yet USA is BEHIND Australia in local time.

How can this happen? As a test I changed the date on my PC to a future date and sent myself an email. THe date posted in my inbox is TODAY not a future date so it can't be that my friend has their PC set up with the incorrect date.

The header details are (I have left out confidential details) -

Subject: Finally New Computer/ Learning/ had almost 400 emails/ will write soon.
Warm wishes for New year to you both Bess

Seen this problem before and it turned out it was the ISP who had the wrong time.

Now that's something I didn't think of but quite understandable.
    Thanks

You left in the email address - removed for your friend's security against spammers :)

    Thanks Pete

I saw the email address next to X-AOL-SENDER in the header, removed it and didn't look any further thinking this was the only incidence.

I am still trying to catch up on sleep after a late night celebrating start of 2011.

Sorry for not closing this post which I will do now.

I also 'post' to at least 2 other sites (for FSX questions and more often than here) and when I asked (the other 2) how to 'close' a post was told "no need to" (it seems this web site is the only one which has this feature) so I had forgotten that I needed to close a post here - sorry.

As you can see you're not actually closing the thread ;)

Marking a thread as resolved has 2 main benefits, others with similar issues may find that your resolution also works for them and those who may be able to provide a suggestion need not waste their time with a resolved issue (bear in mind some threads are a lot longer than this and it can be frustrating reading through 30/40 posts only to find there is no longer an issue).
