[DVD failure after SP2]

yet another problem,
probably get shot for this but as i used to have SP2 before my little upgrade and it worked fine, i thought i would install it again, but this time it seemed to mess up my DVD drive, i cannot run any software and install it from the disk in that drive, i can access the disk and play DVDs but if i try to install anything it will not do it, so i restored my computer to a restore point i created before i installed SP2 but i still have the problem.

If you, for example, click on Setup.exe on the DVD what happens?

Do you get an error?
Does the mouse cursor change but nothing happens?

Give more indication of symptoms.
