Hello, I am hoping someone can help with a problem that is driving me to distraction. I am in the throes of burning my first DVDs and recently bought and had installed a DVD re-writer . Basically, I am using Pinnacle Studio 9 and recently edited a project abut the local fair in the village. I captured all the clips, edited the material with effects and burned it on to DVD. After doing this I played on our Sony DVD player downstairs. The DVD starts off fine but after about a minute or two , the image starts to judder and also the sound appears to be a few frames ahead of the picture for a short spell. This will last about 3 or 4 minutes and then settles down and the rest of the DVD is fine. I have recaptured, re-edited and re-burned but it always judders in more or less around the same place after a few minutes in. I tried another project and the same thing happens there. I played it on another DVD player will the same problem. Strangely enough if I play on my DVD Rom on the PC and also my neighbours PC, it seems to play fine. I am closing down other apps like virus checker etc. My question is..is it the DVD Rewriter, or is this happening in the rendering process. Is my PC not fast enough. Tech spec…..Athlon 200XP (1700MHZ) 256 Ram 80Gb Hard drive. Optorite 401 Multi format DVD rewriter. I was using +R discs and have tried two different makes here. I set the burning speed to 4 X as that is what it says on the disc. **Now yesterday I burned a new shorter project. This one will not play properly on the our main Sony DVD player, but goes out of sync half way thru and then catches up a minute later... but will play fine on the other two DVD players in the house. I am confused. Any help here for a novice at this. I was really excited about the prospect of creating my own little movies but the excitement is fading fast . Many thanks Ron

    Hi Ron,

I am new to this also but try this forum, loads of info and they even have a section dedicated to Pinnacle 9 users: SimplyDV Forum

I have been reading alot on there and general consensus seems to be that -R is more reliable than +R but it could be your burning software, what are you using?

    Good luck

    Colin

Thanks Colin Will take a look at that forum. From what I can gather from friends to - R seems to be a better option, so am going to try that format. It also might be the case, and I will find out today, that my Sony machine which is now 2 and a half years old, might not be up to + R. With all these different permutations, age of machine, compatibitlity, formats, even make of disc , it is a minefield for the newbies like us. I am using the Pinnacle software that comes with studio in catures, edits and burns in one. Good luck to you to. Ron
