    Hi Everybody,

I've been using Windows 2000, but just got a computer with Windows XP Home on it. I keep all my files on a server, which I have to connect to with a username/password.

I mapped the drive successfully and was able to use it fine. I also checked the "reconnect on logon" box. However, everytime I start my computer in the morning it doesn't happen. It also doesn't bring up a logon box like it used to on win 2000.

It's quite frustrating, as when I open a program which has been using a file on the server I forget I haven't connected etc, so every day I have to go into my computer and connect the mapped drive (which has a red "x" on it at this point).

    Can anybody help please?

    Thanks in advance

I think you've pinpointed your problem - lack of a login when you start XP so that 2K has no idea who is trying to get to the files.

If you are a fan of the classic login screen (I am) you can force XP to use it. Instructions Here.
