currently what i do with a clients old hard drive is i take the drive apart and literally take 2 pliers and break the platter. even the good lord cant put that back together. am getting tired of doing it that way so am looking for a recommendation on FREE sft where I can attach the drive i want to erase to one of my other machine and run the sft on the attached drive.

anyone got any suggestions and again free if possible.

    thanks greg

addition - would be okay if it was an iso or exe file but again would be nice if i can attach the drive to another machine and select the drive i want to erase from the program.

Couple good smacks with a hammer would be easy n quick...

Most all hard drive makers have a "zero fill" type software on their sites for free.

    Then there's this little gem:

Need to kill the data on a hard drive you have lying around but don't wanna bother hooking it up to a PC? Wiebetech's pocket-sized eRazer plugs directly into lonely hard drives and genocides whatever naughtiness you have have etched into it at a rate of 35MB/s, leaving a 250GB hard drive scorched earth in under two hours.
