Are you sure that's the correct and full error message?

Could it be NTLDR is missing, press ctrl+alt+del to restart?

Hi ocindyz5. Welcome to Windowsbbs! :)

Could you please clarify and tell us the exact erorr message you are recieving at bootup? If what surferdude said is correct and that is the error message you are recieving at bootup do you have a Windows XP CD you can boot from? Have you tried pressing F8 on startup and selecting Last Known Good Configuration? Have you tried pressing F8 on startup and seleting Safe Mode?

the error message is 'DR is missing, ss ctrl + alt+del to restart'
so, it will bring me to the bios setup utility.
after i save and exit, bring me to the message 'DR is missing, ss ctrl + alt+del to restart' again

You didn't answer all of my questions. Have you tried the Last known Good Configuration option? Do you have a Windows XP CD you can boot from?

Ok since you have a Windows XP CD can you boot from it? You may have to go into the BIOS and change the boot order so the CD-ROM is the first device the computer boots from. Once you can boot from the CD let me know and I will walk you through the next step.

Yes, and to clarify your error message I think your screen is misaligned...

    Evan, Surferdude...

    Code:
    [B]NTL[/B]DR is Missing
    [B]pre[/B]ss ctr+Alt+Del to restart

    Notice anything ;)

I was suggesting that when I posted my first question but didn't get a response. I sometimes lose interest waiting for an answer.

The possibilities for correction are well known for that malady and are outlined very well HERE. I suggest you follow them in the order presented just in case your fix is easier than you are anticipating.

If you need help creating the boot disk mentioned in that link, I can offer you a couple of ready-made ones HERE. Choose the floppy if you have a floppy drive available on the ill machine since it's easier to make. Otherwise you can burn a CD using the iso file offered.

    Good luck!
