Got the notice saying it was going to download new upgrades than I entered it to do this thats when it stopped.
I clicked on "download" it all disappeared and never came back! Going to the windows update site tells me the only thing available to me right now is sp2. Clicking on "installation history" tells me the last thing I installed was Jan 28. Clicking on "restore hidden updates" does nothing either, just says " Single installation update is selected for installation
Updates on this page are currently unavailable because a single installation update is selected for installation and it cannot be installed at the same time as other updates. After installation, you can return to Windows Update to select other updates for your computer.
So how can I fix this problem

How do you have the "AutoUpdate" program set, Automatic, Notify, or disabled?

The general fix for this sort of problem is to rename the catroot2 folder to catroot2old and hope for the best. REBOOT, and the folder will be recreated with new contents and hopefully without any corruption. If that works, delete the catroot2old folder.

    it's here:

    C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\catroot2

If you have it set to automatic, it should go ahead and complete without any help from you. However, since it apparently hasn't, renaming the folder would be the right step.

Reading this thread right now is purely a coincidence, and while I have no idea why this happened, it just did.

A few days ago I got that little shield telling me the monthly updates were ready to be downloaded. I selected the ones I wanted, which caused the pop-up to appear asking me once again whether I was sure I wanted to never again hear of the ones I wasn't choosing. I confirmed, and that was that. Nothing happened. It seemed strange, but I kind of forgot about it. Magically, about 15 minutes ago, the little shield appeared again, and they began to download. I had noticed it at home, also - nothing happened, but there I assumed that it was because my connection is so slow that it hadn't had a chance yet, but here at work, with DSL, I really can't explain what happened.
