I apologize if this query has already been answered on the board. I am having trouble opening Netscape 7.1 once I download it. When I click the NSSetup.exe file, I get an error message: "Windows cannot open this file: NSSetup.exe.asp" I am using Windows XP. Other messages suggested that Norton Systemworks might interfere with such downloads, so I went into Norton and disabled all I could: still no luck with getting around the error message. I would be very grateful for any recommendations (and I apologize again if the solution to this problem has already been explained elsewhere).

    Welcome to the Forum, elfen001

    Hi Andy,

Does the downloaded file have an "asp" extension in addition to the "exe" extension? If so, then delete the ".asp ", and you should be able to install Netscape.

Look in Edit | Preferences | Navigator | Helper Applications.
If you have this entry: "application/octet-stream "
    Then delete it.
