    Hello All -

Is there any way I can get 'automatic updates' to quit bugging me about downloading and/or installing IE8? I've tried it, I don't like it and I don't want to go through the hassle of telling my computer NO every day. Any and all help will be greatly appreciated. Many thanks.

Hi Mike. When the automatic updates popup comes click it for it to open. Now when the window pops up click the custom option and click next. Internet Explorer 8 should be listed as an update ready to install. Uncheck its checkbox and click ok. You will then recieve another window saying that updates that aren't selected won't be installed. In that window, select don't remind me about this update again and click ok.

    That was easy.

Many thanks, Evan. That was easy. Should save some wear-and-tear on my gray matter. :D

How can you find what version of IE is installed? I tried a right click on the program and went to properties, but it doesn't identify the version.

I'm thinking it's IE7, still, because it's working! On one computer I'm getting bugged every time I boot up to install the "upgrade" to IE8, so I was going to use Evan's fix to kill it, but on the other box, I don't get the prompt.

Both computers are XP Home with SP3 and I thought I had them identically configured.
