DNS look up recommended.

I moderate a forum and approve or deny new member requests. Is there a free
DNS reverse look up website that anyone can recommend? If not, what site that requires a paid subscription would you recommend?

My tuppence worth...

Use the tools whiskeyman provided but don't automatically reject someone due to IP address, forum software will allow you to set different groups.

Assign new members to pre mod automatically (for as many posts as you feel comfortable with). Whilst in pre mod the first spam/abusive post means you can kill the account before any other members see it. Fair enough ban the IP for a week or so but bear in mind someone else may have inherited it by then. We don't all have fixed IP's so don't ban them indefinately.

As wildfire said, don't rely only on IP addresses.

Banning an IP address for 1 day or 1 week is not going to help if they are on dynamic IP, a quick reboot of modem & presto a new IP address.
