I think I remember enabling DMA for my HD, CD and DVD drives during the upgrade with XP. I was looking around in device managmer but don't see the option like it's listed in Win 98SE. Where is it in XP?

Open device manager, expand the tree for your IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers, select Primary IDE, right click, select properties, select the Advanced Settings tab, select the Transfer Mode dropdown box.
Do the same for your Secondary IDE.
