Lets start at the beginning please.

First thing we need to know what do you have for a machine ?

Then we need to clear up what you mean by having to reload Windows.

At what point does the message appear ?

Does the message say Internet Explorer or Windows Explorer or just plain Explorer ? There is quite a difference between them.

Internet Explorer is the Browser which unless something is trying to connect at bootup should not come into play until you do try to connect.

Explorer or Windows Explorer ( same thing ) involves the OS.

OK. From what I read into the above is a Windows operating system problem.

As I mentioned before Explorer is the OS. IEXPLORE would be the Browser.

And when you select delete on Explorer and you lose everything that is normal. Windows needs Explorer.exe to run.

I do not know a thing about your microsource computer so I can not say how but it reads like a re-install of the OS is in order. But how you would go about it depends on your machine and which version of 98 you have.

BTW. Have you done a system wide Virus check lately ?

Yes, you could lose things if you shut it down.

I agree to the agitation part.

Don't know what to think other than seing about re-installing the OS.

But maybe soneone else will jump in here with some ideas.
