    Can anyone help me to location where I can find software to copy old Hard drive to the new hard drive? Don't you need a cable?? I would like to download s/w to do this asap. Is diskcopy the only one? Thanks for your time. I would not like to use ghost or images...PC to PC ...type of thing..bye for now.

    The easiest way, if you can do it, is to put the old drive in the new PC and transfer that way.

    If that isn't a viable option then DCC (direct cable connection) is the easiest way to go. You need a null modem cable (printer cable sort of but wired funny) for speed or a serial cable wired cross-over (where tx at one end is rx at the other and vice versa).

    Good how-to for setting it up in your help section I think and if not, good one on the Microsoft on-line help site.

    If you are trying to clone a hard drive, go to the manufacturer's web site and look for such a utility. They have them. It usually doesn't matter if the manufacturer is the old or the new.
