Can someone please tell me why when I do a "disk cleanup" -- I can go back to it and it'll have the same amount in it that needs to be cleared as before I ran it?

My computer [which I got in March] is a Sony Digital Studio.
    thank you Kit Strickler

Disk Cleanup is careful not to remove files that may still be needed. Though it will remove all unneeded files after a time, files that have been recently accessed and may still be needed by apps that use the temp folder for storage, are not removed. Only files that definitely are not needed because they haven't been accessed in a long time are removed.
