Disconnects

    I have another older PC in my home used mainly to play poker online and keep getting disconnected. I deleted cookies and defraged.I use Road Runner wireless and have Windows 98 on this PC. The tower is makeing noise and i wonder if im ready for a new hard drive.

    Hi,

    Since you can connect OK, although later lose the connection, this may not be an actual hardware problem. I have had (dial-up) disconnections in the past and those were fixed by uninstalling and reinstalling drivers (the ISP's modem could not "talk" with my modem).

    This thread may belong in the Networking or Windows 98 forum. The moderators should be able to move it if they agree.
