    Im using Win XP Prof.

When I create a dial up connection all is well until it comes to using it. It does not remember the password and makes one up of its own. I can tell it's a different password because it is much longer than my real password and of course I can't get onto the net.

When I dial up I change it and check save password but Windows changes it back the next time I attempt to log onto the net.

What gives? Any ideas would be much appreciated.

    Hi
Who is your isp?is it bt because if it is it adds on letters to your passwrod for your protection so don't worry the password you have set id there you just can't see it so if you use bt email service and you type in the password it will accept it the same as if you have to redial just put it in and it will work
If you use and other provider then i am stuck

    Hope I've helped????:)

Sorry didn't realise that you where in Australia but it must be the same thing with the provider you use just keep a note of your password and if you need to use it then dial up with it but otherwise just let your system use the password it uses as it just does it for security reasons and not to confuse you

    cheers

I've done a little more research and it seems it is a normal thing for XP to do. Apparently it adds extra characters for security.

I am on a country ISP at present and connection is rather slow so I was just not giving it enough time to connect and verify.

When I left XP to its own devices and let it add the extra characters all was well. In fact I am writing this after connecting with the extra characters in the password. Go figure!!

    Thanks for the reply.
