In this situation, it is probably best to use static IP addressing. There are a number of addresses you can use. I would suggest using:

    10.0.0.x

Where x is unique number for each computer and between 1 and 254. So you can have:

    10.0.0.1, 10.0.0.2, 10.0.0.3, 10.0.0.4, 10.0.0.5, 10.0.0.6, 10.0.0.7 etc.

All need to have the same subnet mask. With a 10.0.0.0 network, you can use 255.255.0.0 as that will give you the greatest flexibility.

"destination unreachable" is typically a routing error message. Since you are only using a hub, this indicates that some systems have radically different IP Addresses.

Follow the suggestion above, unless you have some sort of cable/dsl modem which might need a different range of addresses. Also, if using 10.0.0.x with 255.255.0.0 as the subnet mask the addresses must be 10.0.x.x. In other words, all must start with 10.0. After that you can set anything you want.
