    Hi Glaive88,

Have you tried restarting in safe mode (press f8 on startup) if that doesn't work could you please try starting normally and see if you can access the task manager (Ctrl-Alt-Del).

Let me know if either or both work.

Ok, can you try to reboot normally again, please give the computer a few minutes extra as sometimes system updates can take time, if you still have problems after 5 minutes let me know.

    You have no shell...

Please restart fully, no safe mode just restart...

Wait until there is no hard drive activity (if no LED's the listen), once you're confident that the system has restarted fully if you have no desktop then start taskmanager (ctrl-alt-del) and in the applications tab click new task and type explorer.exe. If that works then we'll set it permanently.

the updates were just some basic windows features...:Virus Protection and FireWall and there was another, cant recall the name..

and when i do restart in safe mode does updates will no longer will still have taken effect...and as usual after i restore in that mode it will automatically change back to normal mode after restore..

Starting in Safe Mode will not disable the updates, but a System Restore to a date before the updates were installed will eliminate them.

    Two things to try .....

Start in Safe Mode - if your desktop appears run System Restore.

If the desktop does not appear try to start in Safe Mode with Command Prompt which will open to a Command Window and follow the instructions in the URL I posted.

If you succeed in making a System Restore the computer should come back up in Normal Mode. If by chance it does not then reboot.

    FYI .....
