    Hi,

    Another PC another blue screen!

    Dell Dimension 5000 XPSP3

IE8 was downloaded immediately before the stop error

    Unmountable_boot_volume

    Stop error 0x000000ED (0x8736F030, 0xC000009C, 0x00000000,0x00000000)

I can't get XP to load even in safe mode it just boots to BSOD.

The HDD is SATA. I have tried to connect an older IDE hard drive which I know works. I set the jumpers to master, the PC can see it but won't boot from it. I was hoping to slave the original and copy the data from it. I ran the disk diagnostic from the boot menu and got Error code 7. Dell reckon this recoverable, I'm doubtful. Any suggestions would be warmly welcomed.
