    Hi all
Hope someone can help me out here.
I am trying to help out my father-in-law with this problem, here are the e-mails I got from him.....

When I try to copy photos from my pictures folder, or erase photos from the folder, the dumb program generates additional copies (in the pictures folder) of the photos I am trying to copy or erase. In some cases, it shows "Copy 50 of ........ ".

Can you offer any clues as to how I may stop this unwanted replication?

    (my Response)
How are you trying to delete them? (Right click and delete or are you using the edit tab up at the top?)
Also are you using a photo program? If so which one.

When I download pictures from my camera to "Image Zone" (HP's photo program) it also makes a copy of the photo in the "my pictures" folder. I have to delete the photo from Image Zone and from the picture folder.

Can you tell me what steps you are using to delete or copy.

    (His response)
To copy pictures, I usually hold the control key down and left click on the pics I want to copy. I then use one of the available commands in the "my pictures" folder to accomplish the copy function. To erase, I have tried about every thing I can think of, but tend to hold the control key down while left clicking to select the photos I wish to delete. I than either drag a photo to the recycle bin OR right click on one of the photos I wish to delete and then left click the delete option offered on the menu that pops up. I have an HP photo program, but have not used it in my attempts to rid the "my pictures" folder of the replicated copies.

Is there some setting that is maybe making a back up copy??

    Thanks for any input.

The number one and pretty much the only cause of this is user error. When right clicking and holding the CTRL key, if you so much as move a fraction of a fraction of an inch, you drag the item(s) and windows makes copies....

    Hi Geri,

You should tell your Dad to right click on the photo he wishes to delete, and select 'Delete' from the pop-up menu.
