I removed several fonts from my system to improve loading of a couple of apps. I thought I was very careful but I must have removed a system font because sometimes when I try to print from a webpage, all I get is line drawing characters with no alphabetics at all.

Any idea what I have to recover

The fonts are on your XP CD. They are compressed, in the form name.tt_. Find the font you are missing among these default fonts in the i386 folder. Go to Start--> Run. Type: expand D:\i386\<fontname>.tt_ C:\Windows\fonts\<fontname>.ttf
if D is your CD, C is your HD, and Windows is your system folder. After you put the font in the folder, you may need to install it. Go to Fonts in the Control Panel, File, Install Font and specify the font you loaded.

PS. You could save the time of looking through all those fonts on the CD by using *.tt_ and *.ttf instead of the font names in the Run command. That will copy all the fonts on the CD and you will be asked if you want to replace the ones that are already installed.
