Resolved delete windows.old?

    Running w10 for a while now so was wondering if it is
    safe to delete the windows.old folder?

    Only if you do not want to go back to your previous OS. If everything is operating OK and you're a happy camper - your call. Neil.

    I can always reinstall 8.1 if needed.

    Yes you can. Then go and get all the updates that you downloaded for it. They should be in the windows.old folder already and would save you some time. Of course this would not be like a clean install which I would go for if it was me.

    OK, its gone.

    Now it won't connect to internet. No IP address.

    BTW, the W10 upgrade only allows you to roll back to your previous version for 30 days after the upgrade. After that, the windows.old folder will not work anyway. So my advice to other is to just wait.

    I don't know what will happen after the 30 days is up. My hope is W10 will at least prompt us to delete windows.old so the disk space is not being wasted.

    I had to do a restore from an image file i had made.

    Now the internet is back so, guess i'll just leave it alone and see
    what happens after the thirty day limit.
