    Is this possible?

Someone ask me yesterday how to do this. I didnt think it was
possible since its only memory but wasn't 100% sure.

    thanks,

You'd do it just like any other hard drive;)

    Vista 32/64 bit system.

    Strange! Using the Vista defragger-
All my other partitions show up (C thru H) but the flash drive (I) don't.

    It's all about the mechanics.
HDD have moving parts. Defrag positions a file in continuous sectors. Provides performance gain and reduces wear. This is why defrag is suggested for HDD's.
Flash drives are solid state, no moving parts. So defrag would provide no performance / wear advantage.

But, if you right click on the drive in My Computer->Properties->Tools you should see the defrag option.

    I tried that.
can get properties>tools and select defrag but when the defrag window
opens and i click on select volumns, the removable drive is not showing up.

I might mention, there is no "system" software on the flash drive, its all data.

    thanks,
    savagcl

you could try getting a third party defragger, such as Auslogics Disk Defrag.

No sniper - as I posted defragging a flash drive is not recommended - read the URL I posted.

I was not forcing him to defrag a drive. Just making a statement sort of.
