"Customize Notifications"

Running Win XP SP2

When you right click on a blank spot of the taskbar select properties then click the customize button...this bring you to what's called "customize notifications ". Many items in this section have long been deleted from my computer but are still listed. Is there any way to delete unwanted items in this section?

How to Clear Past Items from the Notification Area

This will do it but it will clear all of them out. You'll be starting from scratch again. Not a big deal but I thought you should be aware. I don't know of any other way.
