'CTF Loader Encountered Problem' alert has started to reoccur.... don't know what I did to restart this old problem... went back to my old BBS files, & retried/ revisited 'Startup' by Mike Lin... no joy.... after disabling & deleting, ctfmon.exe reappears in M.L.'s 'DELETED" & HKCU/RUN', & 'CTF Loader' alert reappears.... help... tx:(

I would simply disable it - deleting the entry may well be triggering other responses from the System.

I find CodeStuff Starter an improvement over Mike Lin's applet.

I have ctfmon disabled with no grumbles from XP.

Not trying to hijack this thread but would appreciate a little more commentary as to your preference for CodeStuff Starter over StartupCPL. Yes, I read the user reviews on the link provided.

    Thanks
    ;)

I prefer the Windows Explorer style GUI of CodeStuff Starter to the tabbed style of Startup Control Panel.

Good to see everything on one screen.

As for effectiveness, both are equal.

I just found out that StartupCPL missed the fact that I put an .EXE into my account's Startup folder. This .EXE was created by using the XP utility IExpress 2 to convert a .VBS file into a .EXE. What the file is about really isn't important, though. It's an EXE, but StartupCPL simply ignored it.

I also cross-checked Starter against Startup Inspector for Windows and found an exact one-to-one match. SIW has a GUI bug, though, that requires refreshing the screen when the column positions are changed.

Whoa .......... Nice one Whiskeyman (again).
Thanks to all. Hadn't seen anything that was going to move me away from Startup CPL until that puppy wagged his tail.
