    Hi all,

I need to remotely access someone's computer. I read about cross loop, and I thought I understood it, but evidently I don't.

Anyone know about this program? Or, know of one that's easy to use?

Actually, the best way is for you to download and install Teamviewer on YOUR computer. The other computer does NOT need to install Teamviewer.

Direct the other person to go to teamviewer.com. Beneath the green download button is some text that says, "Join Remote Control Session ". The person should click on that text and download Teamviewer_QS. (QS = Quick Support). The file can be saved and then double-clicked to run it.

This is the stand alone version of Teamviewer that does not get installed, it just runs. It can be run whenever the person wants you to connect to him. Each time it's run, a new passcode number will be generated, the user number remains the same. This version is only for allowing someone to remote control the computer.

OK, let me see if I've got this right: I download and install "TeamViewer; Then my friend goes to the site and clicks on "Join Remote Control Session ". Then my friend downloads "TeamViewer_QS" to his Desktop, clicks it and a number or something is generated to his version and tells me that number, I type it in, and I'm remotely connected to his computer so I can fix it.

I just installed TV. It says, "Allow Remote Control" and there's an ID and Password. It also asks me to sign up. So, when my friend runs the "_QS" he gives me the "Partner ID" number and I give him my ID and Password and click "Connect to Partner ". Then I've got control of his computer.

    Am I close?

p.s. I noticed in Avast in Maintenance there's a box to: Allow Remote Control and Control Remote Computer. Would this be the same? I clicked on both of the boxes and got access info he is supposed to give me to control his 'puter.

Hi jpChris, Your partner gives you the code (phone or email) and you just click on Remote Control (Radio button) then click on Connect to Partner.
When you click on Connect to Partner - small window opens asking for you to put the code number in the box and then Login.
Ensure that the Partner gives you the code correctly, as it's case sensitive (lower or high case figures).
This should enable the connection - very easy. Neil.:D
P.S. I have no interference from Windows Defender during this procedure.

Thanks, Neil. I still haven't heard from him, so I guess it wasn't as important as he made it out to be.

    Oh, well.

p.s. When I installed CrossLoop, I Revo Uninstalled it and I got a warning from Avast that it had detected a "keylogger" when uninstalling. Do you think it might be part of the program?

It could be something attached to CrossLoop. I'm not familiar with CrossLoop as my brother suggested TeamViewer because his son had used it to help him previously.
I found my way round TeamViewer quite easy and we used it 3 times yesterday. I think my bro' has a corrupt version of Picasa on his comp, as it won't work like the 4 comps I have it on. Neil.

re Teamviewer: On your system, no need to "allow remote control" because no one will be connecting to you to "fix" your computer. You can change that setting in your version, otherwise, Teamviewer will be "listening" for others to connect to your comp.

Call your friend and he will give you his ID number (9 digits) and a pass code (4 digits). You will launch Teamviewer and and then enter his ID and pass code.

    Hi guys,

Thank you very much for babysitting me with this; I appreciate it. Although he still hasn't called, I think I know what to do.

Well, it's still not resolved because he hasn't had the time3 to do it (although I'm the one doing it). I will mark this as Resolved until it's not: Then I'll start a new thread.
