Coolweb Search hijacker

Does anybody know what's the essence of Coolweb Search hijacker: how it distributed, what ways uses? It's practically impossible to find a really competent and precise explanation from the technical experts. Basically just general, foggy phrases prevail, like this is Java VM vulnerability. What exactly core of this Java vulnerability?

Same site, same author, http://www.spywareinfo.com/~merijn/cwschronicles.html but even this one is not very long on specifics. Probably deliberate to keep from putting info out there to inspire script kiddies from trying to grow their own versions.

 

There is a link to the "chronicles" from the "articles" item on left panel; more roundabout than yours

Take that back - the link doesn't work. The first item in the main panel at the bottom of which is a link that takes you to the longer article - the same article that you link to.
