    G'Day all,
A friend has both a Win95 and a Win98SE PC. She recently installed a learning game program on each PC for her kids to use. It didn't seem to work, so she uninstalled the game (the CD had that option available, so not through control panel add/remove programs). For some strange reason, the Control Panel has disappeared on both machines and it doesn't appear to come back after any combination of reboots or whatever. Short of reinstalling the OSes, does anyone have any ideas how to get the control panel back?

Check on the web site for the learning software. Will probably be a common problem for them.

Go to Start\Run and type in "Control.exe Sysdm.cpl" and press Enter. The System Properties window should appear. If nothing happens, do a Find for Control.Exe, if you do find it then open Windows Explorer and look in the windows folder for the file 'Control.Ini', it will say Configuration Settings for the file type. Right click on this file and choose Rename, and give the name Control.Old, then reboot.
If you do not Find Control.Exe, use the System File Checker [Sfc.Exe] to replace it from the windows setup files.

FWIT, the software company (Broderbund/Learning Company) had no information on this issue. Trying to contact a real person there for even Adequate customer support is **** near impossible!
